Psychedelic comes from psyche (life; spirit; soul) and delic (to make manifest, to reveal and make visible). Psychedelics manifest soul, they make spirit visible, they reveal life itself.

Integration (the root word of which is entire), is defined as the restoration to wholeness; the process of renewal; the making up of a whole by combining the separate parts or elements.

People have long-gathered in circle to share, ground and integrate expansive states. Many indigenous cultures have, throughout history, known the importance of bringing back home, the insights, visions and trials, into circle, to support growth, healing and renewal - not only for the individual but for the whole community and for the natural world that they are a part of.

The Frome Psychedelic Integration Circle is a safe, confidential, open and non-judgemental space for those who have used, or are thinking of using, psychedelics or any other consciousness-expanding practices such as breath-work etc. If you have had a challenging or powerful psychedelic experience and want help to integrate and make sense of it, or if you wish to share a meaningful experience, we create circles that help to hold, unpack, process and share those experiences.

The intention is to help integrate psychedelic experiences into everyday life in ways that are helpful and meaningful to the individual. Integration supports us to make sense of those insights and translate them into real world actions.

Some psychedelic experiences can also be challenging, leaving us feeling vulnerable,  fragile or overwhelmed. Sharing these experiences and having others hear and understand them with us, can be an important part of the integration process.

As psychedelics become more mainstream, the psychedelic community are increasingly creating community spaces where we can support one another to make sense of our psychedelic experiences. With the guidance of facilitators, the circle offers a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where open conversations can happen, so we can learn from our experiences and support each other to develop, heal and grow.

What shall I bring?

We encourage you to bring an object along that has personal meaning for you. It could represent your hopes/fears about the group or relate to the experience you may like to share. We place the objects in the middle of the circle when checking in.

We also ask attendees to arrive up to 10 minutes before the start time so we can settle-in, grab a tea and start on time. Late arrival may result in you not being able to participate in the session.

Please be aware that the circle does not permit use of psychedelics or other psychoactive drugs during group meetings. In accordance with the law, we neither encourage substance use, provide illicit substances, nor referrals to illegal psychedelic services.

The Circle is supported and lightly facilitated by

Michael Barry

With a background as a doctor of Emergency Medicine, Michael is currently retraining as a psychedelic-assisted psychotherapist with the goal of helping people to prevent illnesses before they reach a crisis point. He works at a residential addiction rehab clinic in Weston-super-Mare, working 1-1 and in groups.

He has completed the Psychedelic Practitioner training at the Synthesis Institute, during which he did a month long placement at a retreat centre in Mexico combining Western psychotherapy and Ayahuasca, and is now apprenticing and assisting on various retreats.

Outside of the western clinical framework, he is walking the path of sacred plant medicines in the Peruvian tradition, and has done a number of traditional “plant dietas” in Peru in 2021, 2022 and 2023 with Alonso del Río. He also practices Buddhist ways of being and silent retreat work, with a particular focus on concentration and insight meditation (samatha and vipassanā) and the cultivation of beautiful states of mind (brahmavihārās). His favourite thing in the world is to play guitar and sing to Mother Earth within ceremony.
