Men’s Circle (Weekly Online)

What's your challenge at the moment? Who's supporting you with it? Do you have a circle of men at your side?

Overview

This is an invitation to join a 6-month circle of AwarenessAcceptance, and Action. You will be alongside other like-minded men, ready to invest time into their self-development as men. This is an invitation to grow yourself as a man, to become more self-aware, to have better self-care, self-esteem and to have a group of close men who you trust to have your back, to support and challenge you as you grow, and to hold you accountable to your goals.

Format

The circle runs over 30 weeks, with a weekly 90-minute circle, online. For the first 4 weeks, the space will be open for any men to join and try, then we will 'close' the circle and each man commits to the rest of the 6-month program (26 weeks) together, with no new men joining. Each circle will begin with a check-in, a centering or embodiment exercise, then a warm-up question, then most of the time is given to each man sharing, with some time given for feedback from other men, and we conclude with sharing our personal takeaways and a bit of movement.

1: Self-awareness

The first aspect of the program is about practicing our self-awareness. This involves sharing our life stories, and learning how we got to be whowhere, and how we are from our history. What impact did our roots and environment growing up shape who we are now? What are the stories that made us? Are they true? What are we still carrying from that time? Is it still serving us?

2: Self-acceptance

The next stage of the program is going into more depth on who we are now, in the present. We explore the 'Why' behind the who, by going into themes to explore different aspects of ourselves and digging into them, with the support of the men in your circle. Themes include; money, romantic relationships, mothers, fathers, purpose, spirituality, sex, and values. We practice critical thinking here, to question what we and others have told us about ourselves. Here we practice how to give and receive effective feedback.

3: Responsible action

The final stage is about owning everything about yourself and deciding what you choose to take forward and let go of. Now you know who you are and how you came to be, what do you choose to do about it? Who do you want to be? What are your goals? What future are you creating for yourself? What do you need to do and be to get there? What kind of man do you want to be? Here you will set yourself goals and challenges and your circle will hold you accountable. This is where you start to put the work you've done on yourself in action.

Ecology graduate, ex-journalist for Vice and Al Jazeera, and social entrepreneur. Pasco is the Director and co-founder of Men's Circle; the UK's largest men's self-development community, a non-profit making men's circles mainstream. After years of pursuing systemic social change, Pasco found the most effective and scalable form of transformation is with 'the self'. Pasco's experience ranges from transformational management systems in self-organising, to 1-2-1 coaching for mental resilience and self-care. Recently a father, Pasco feels strongly that a part of generational social change comes when dads are able to be more present in their children's lives; restoring a healthy masculine figure in the home. He feels honored to be working in a field where he is constantly able to learn and work on himself while being in service to others.
