Are you passionate about music and eager to connect with like-minded individuals in a supportive and collaborative environment?

Join EcoSonic - an intensive educational, creative, and community-based music production retreat with Lo.renzo and Sun Anga. The course is an intensive immersion into Ableton Live designed for beginners and people with and without a musical background.

We offer a space to delve deep into the world of music production, specifically electronic music. The focus is on exploring the possibilities of incorporating live instruments with the electronic realm, pushing boundaries, and breaking traditional norms.

Throughout the retreat, you will have the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars led by experienced and talented music producers, covering a wide range of topics, from the basics of electronic music production to strategies for incorporating live instruments

You will have access to recording equipment and software, allowing you to experiment and explore your own unique sound. 

One of the most valuable aspects of this retreat is the sense of community it fosters. You will connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for music production. This supportive and collaborative environment provides a sense of belonging and inspires participants to continue their musical journey long after the retreat has ended. You will have a chance to share ideas and learn from one another. You will be able to showcase your work and receive feedback from both your peers and experienced mentors.

In addition, we will have breathwork sessions facilitated by an expert, to allow us to stay connected to their body and breath.

PROGRAM

Daily program will look like:

  • breathwork session

EQUIPMENT

Each participant is required to have:

  • A laptop with Ableton installed and running (Ableton offers a 3-month free trial)
  • A pair of headphones.

There will be two stations available for the participants to experience working on studio monitors.

 

LOGISTICS

  • Closest airport: Gothenburg Landvetter Airport
  • Closest train stop: Älvängen (half an hour north of Gothenburg)
  • From the airport, you can easily arrive in Gothenburg city with a shuttle bus
  • From the town, you can take one of the commute trains from the central station to the stop called Älvängen
  • There you will be picked up by car.

Arrival and Departure:

Participants will arrive on-site on the 12th (Wednesday) evening. The music workshops will start

Thursday morning and will end on the 16th (Sunday). The lunch on Sunday is included and participants are free to leave after lunch whenever they want/need. 

 

VENUE

Nestled in the heart of the lush forests of Sweden, sits a charming wooden house that exudes tranquility and charm. Surrounded by towering trees and the calming sounds of nature, this wooden house offers a unique and intimate setting.

The house itself is a work of art, with its traditional Scandinavian design and warm, inviting atmosphere. The main living area is the heart of the house, with a crackling fireplace at its center. 

The large outdoor space that surrounds the house has plenty of seating areas and a fire pit, it is the ideal spot for bonding under the stars. You can also take a stroll through the forest or enjoy a picnic by the nearby river and immerse yourself in the serenity of Swedish nature.

 

ACCOMMODATION 

Two types of accommodation are available. You can bring your own tent and camping gear or you can stay in one of our two rooms or bell tents.

One single bedroom - £100 extra

One master bedroom with double bed (for a single or a couple) - £150 per single person, £200 per couple


Bell Tents with bedding

A space in a shared Bell Tent (5 people max per tent) - £50 extra per person

A Bell Tent for one or a couple - £100 extra for a single person / £150 extra for a couple

FOOD

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included every day from Thursday’s breakfast to Sunday’s lunch.

All meals are vegetarian.

 

FAQ


Do I need any musical background to join the retreat?

  • No. The course is designed for anyone and any background.

What equipment do I need to join the course?

  • You need a computer that runs Ableton Live and Zoom. (Check the Ableton Live website for the system requirements)

Do I need to buy Ableton Live?

  • Not right away. Ableton gives you a 90-days free trial of the full software.

I am a musician, can I bring my instrument?

  • Yes, please!

Do I need to bring my own tent?

  • You don’t have to but you can. There is plenty of space for tents. Otherwise, we offer to arrange a bed in a bell tent or a room (please see prices above in the Accommodation section).

How many people will join the retreat?

  • We want to keep an intimate environment. It will be a maximum of 12 and a minimum of 6 participants.

FACILITATORS

 

Lo.Renzo

Lo.Renzo is a multinstrumentalist and music therapist based in Italy who combines global bass music with the voice of the Sarangi, a bowed instrument from north India.

Sarangi is carved from a single block of wood and it’s composed of three main strings and over thirty sympathetic strings which vibrating according to scale. This musical journey is the translation of the path taken by the study of this instrument integrated with many others like fretless guitar, cumbus and charango.

He has released music on Merkaba music, Desert Trax and Outtallectuals and has collaborated as remixer and session musician with artists like Kaya Project, Marya Stark, Pedra Branca, David Starfire, Halfred and many more.

Lo.Renzo is active in several projects: Imran&Lorenzo, fusion of acoustic guitar and sitar, Poan, an acoustic live ambient project based on nature sounds and Jakare, a folktronica project who has released music with Desert trax during last years remixing and collaborating with artists like Liquid Bloom, Porangui, Mose and more.

His live set will lead us through a unique journey moving from dreamlike atmospheres to strong world fusion beats. He has played in festival like Ozora, Boom, Modem, Tribal Gathering, Own spirit, PsyFi, One Love, Shankra and many more all over Europe and Asia and USA.

Sun Anga / Stefano Sgarbi

Stefano is a producer, musician and workshop leader. He graduated from the Institute of Sonology (electroacoustic composition and sound art) at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague (NL) in 2017.

His main electronic production and DJing project, Sun Anga, was born from a research of groovy rhythms, dreamy soundscapes, uplifting buildups and a balance of psychedelic and trance elements. 

Among his many collaborations, he is an enthusiastic member of Sweet Dreams Records, Melusine Records, Electrik Dream Records and the Anthropos Festival family.

Stefano is very active in festivals and events around the psychedelic world since 2012. He played and gave workshops in various events and festivals such as Mo:Dem, Samsara, Psy-Fi, Anthropos, Shankra, WAO, 7Chakras, ZNA Gathering, Forest Star, Mystic Mountain, Summer Never Ends, Wonderland, and more. He has been facilitating music production courses at the Psychedelic Society for over two years.
