Psychedelic research is fast-gathering momentum across the globe, opening new doors in the science world, as we grow knowledge around the potential for the likes of psilocybin and MDMA to assist with psychotherapy and mental health treatment. The more we learn about the psychedelic experience, what affects it, how we can steer or manipulate it and then get the most out of it, the more we hear about the importance of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ phases - known in the psychedelic space as ‘preparation’ and ‘integration’.

The ‘trip’ itself is only one part of the full transformational experience, and evidence is growing that giving thought, time and consideration to both preparation and integration can have a real impact on the overall revelations and personal exploration realised under the influence of the psychedelic. With this in mind, retreat centres and clinical research institutions alike are beginning to curate their own frameworks for creating a holistic psychedelic journey, drawing upon various practices from a range of different cultures. It is also vital we remember that every individual’s experience will differ - that we are all on our own respective journeys which require different tools to allow us to transform and grow.

Tanya will talk us through her journey with plant medicines and psychedelics, how she got to where she is today and what she’s learnt along the way to becoming an expert in Integration. Tanya will break down Integration as a concept, exploring what it means in the context of the psychedelic experience, the different forms it can take in the world and why it truly is an art form to master. Tanya’s work combines Western research with indigenous spiritual wisdom, with an importance put on ensuring the individual is fully prepared to re-enter society post-experience .

Finally, she will tell us about her current work with Oni Xobo, Tanya’s intercultural not-for-profit organisation, and the exciting things the organisation has planned for the future. A proportion of the profits from this event will be donated to Oni Xobo.

SPEAKER PROFILE:  Tanya Kammonen

Tanya Kammonen has Finnish, Irish, Ukrainian, and Hungarian roots. She grew up in Canada close to a river and has been interested in consciousness and spirituality since before having words for those concepts. She studied biology and naturopathic medicine and after seeing an increasing number of patients in her practice looking for help with integration post-ayahuasca, allowed that to become a full-time pursuit and became the first Integration Director with the Temple of the Way of Light, developing methodology and programming to help people make sense of their experiences and impactful changes in their lives. Since becoming a mom to her incredible son she has been consulting in various plant medicine-related projects and is part of the founding team of Oni Xobo, an intercultural organization that investigates designs, and implements projects related to medicine, art, culture, and environment, through a lens of divine love. Her intention is to apply and share what she has learned in ways that are true and inspiring to other human beings
