We invite you to a special Beltane gathering on the full moon of May 🌝
Come along and meet some of the trees of the Lea Valley park. The ones that hold stories of folklore and magic, plus heaps of good medicine within their boughs, leaves and blooms.
🌳 Tree Walk
Join us and meet the Elder, Oak, Willow, Tilia and Hazel up close and personal, with a deeper focus on the May tree (or Hawthorn). Be prepared for some mysticism, as this tree is a well known as a fairy haunt!
🌿 Herb Foraging
Explore the diverse and plentiful plants, herbs and trees of the Lea Valley Regional Park that can fill your belly and support your health and wellbeing. Learn how to work with the nature around us to make your own home remedies.
✨ Potion Making
The Full moon holds extra potency for creating potions from the aerial parts of plants. As part of this Beltane walk you will learn about astrological herbalism and how the lunar cycles effect the magic and medicine of plants and potions. Bring along a small bottle of brandy and an empty glass jar, as together we will make a special, magical potion to take home!
When: Friday 5th May, 10:30am - 2pm
Where: The Lee Valley Regional Park (exact meeting point to be announced nearer the date)
lunch/flask of tea
pen and paper
small bottle of brandy
empty clean jam jar
We'll be ending our walk in the Lee Valley with a picnic, where we can rest and replenish and Kaz can answer your questions. Please bring along some lunch!
Kaz Goodweather is one of the Seed SistAs. A clinical herbalist of over 20 years with a love and interest in the so-called witching herbs of old, her second book (co-authored with Fiona Heckels t'other Seed Sista) Their first publication The Sensory Herbal Handbook, is a journey through the year, exploring herbs for each season. Kaz is passionately potty about plants and a total Herbal Drama Queen, riding the wave of chaos that has become ever more prevalent in our society, embracing change and the feral wildness of womanhood. She can be found with her fingers in the soil in the garden or by the hedgerow singing to the trees.
Kaz will be sharing insights about herbs that grow locally, the intelligence of nature and her own personal journey and just how integral the magic of herbalism and witchcraft is to good health. There will be herbal tasters to experience which will unearth how our senses can lead to a deep understanding of the communications between us humans and our plant ancestors.
