Animate Landscapes

Weave yourself into deeper kinship with the more than human world

Kent UK, 16-18 September

A wild and awakening ceremonial gathering to converse with the plant, animal and land spirits

Create space to stop, listen, touch, speak, sing and move with the more than human world around you. We will journey through ancient practices to awaken our ancestors’ perspective of land, spirit and interconnectivity, inviting in ‘otherness’ and awe into our daily experience and (re)connecting us to our innate capacity for kinship with all that surrounds us and flows through us.

“You are not separate from the whole. You are one with the sun, the earth, the air. You don’t have a life. You are life.”

― Eckhart Tolle

With Veronica, Carly and Special Guest, Sam Gandy

Having met whilst immersed in indigenous healing traditions in the Andes of Ecuador, Veronica and Carly have formed a timeless friendship and love to create safe and loving containers for deep exploration, creativity, transformation, expression, connection and healing. They have also invited Sam Gandy, a PhD ecologist, researcher, writer and speaker on nature connectedness, weaving together a packed weekend of animate landscapes and interconnectivity.

“This was one of the most amazing experiences I ever had. Veronica and Carly have a unique and beautiful way of constructing a retreat which not only opens the soul but creates a powerful, loving and sharing space. This will not be the last of their retreats I shall go on”

— Gini Holden

“Every single moment of that retreat made me go deeper and deeper into my heart. Remember. Reconnect. Unfold.”

— Zasha Patek

“The gathering was a rich tapestry of invitations to open, connect, remember – the ceremonial spaces so beautifully crafted and held. The programme of offerings was carefully prepared yet perceptively fluid, adapting with the mood of each moment. I felt safe and open knowing that I was in the hands of those that deeply respect and honour the traditions and practices being shared. I am so grateful for this sacred and intimate journey with myself, with the group, with the land on which we rested.”

— Julia Goodlife

Facilitators

Veronica

Veronica is a Multidisciplinary Artist, Voice and Embodiment Guide and Consciousness Explorer, who honours an embodied path of ancestral wisdom and remembrance. She is the founder of Rooted Healing and host of the Rooted Healing Podcast.

A childhood immersed in the rugged Welsh countryside entangled Veronica into the natural world in a very visceral, intimate way. She grew up entranced by the power of story, the perspective of ‘other’ and the sensation of transformation, which led her into a career in the theatrical arts for 8 years.

A wild journey with her own health lead Veronica to Latin America, where she worked closely with sacred healing plant medicines and ancient traditions that reconnected her soul to an indigenous experience of the natural and spiritual world. She continues to be a student of shamanic reciprocity with life.

Currently embarking on an MSc in Consciousness and Transpersonal Psychology, and an experienced yoga teacher of Iyengar lineage, Veronica never ceases to expand her learning and facilitation in practices that connect us to the magic and wonder of life.

Carly

An explorer and advocate for mental health awareness and the therapeutic use of psychedelics, Carly weaves her work immersed in ancient, indigenous shamanic practices across Latin America with her ever curious flare for modern advancements in therapeutic psychedelic research, curating events across the UK with the Psychedelic Society and offering her own facilitation as a professionally trained Yoga teacher and experienced space holder.

Carly celebrates the elusive bridge connecting science and spirit and sees great potential when we marry the two for healing and our collective evolution. Much of her journey along this path has been one of re-animating the world around her and adopting our ancestral practices of respect and connection with the more than human world.

Sam

Sam Gandy is a lifelong nature lover with a PhD in ecological science from the University of Aberdeen and MRes in entomology from Imperial. A collaborator with the Centre for Psychedelic Research at Imperial College, London, Sam has a particular interest in the capacity of psychedelics to (re)connect humans to the natural world.

As an ecologist, researcher and science writer, Sam is working at the intersection of ecology and psychedelics. Sam is also a hobby mycologist, beaver fan, writer, speaker and workshop facilitator. He has been fortunate enough to conduct field research in various parts of the world, reaching as far as Texas, the Peruvian Amazon and Ethiopia, as well as locations a little closer to home. Sam previously worked as a scientific assistant for the Beckley Foundation, an institution which actively seeks to investigate the effects of psychoactive substances on the brain and consciousness in order to harness their potential benefits. Sam has also contributed to the Synthesis Institute, working as an eco-psychology coordinator, designing individually tailored nature-based practices for people undergoing psilocybin therapy for depression. Sam is a senior science writer for Wavepaths and has given a TEDxOxford talk on the capacity of psychedelic substances to enhance human-nature connection, and the implications this has for human wellbeing and the biosphere at a time of growing disconnection and ecological destruction.
