Nature provides a map for us to connect more deeply to ourselves and our own process of growth. Winter Solstice is an opportunity to connect with this map and explore what might be moving in the shadows through ritual, practices of cyclical living and nature connection.

Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year; a time of stillness where the natural world becomes almost dormant. It is also when the cyclical spiral begins to turn and from this day onwards the light slowly creeps back in and the days lengthen. This is a potent time for sitting with darkness, befriending our shadows and letting ourselves rest in the fertile possibilities of the night, and the wisdom of the descent.

Our lives are a voyage of learning to become more fully ourselves and nature wants to support us in the transformations that take place on this journey from birth to death.

This is an opportunity to travel down into the soul, into the fecund soil that awaits us when we remember and reconnect with our bodies and the land around us as the vessel to our own potential and transformation.

In this evening event we will explore:

  • Learning easy at home nature connection practices
  • Sensory meditations and befriending darkness
  • Connecting with our inner elder
  • Welcoming parts of ourselves and our shadows back home
  • Connecting with the animal world through embodiment,
  • Understanding more about cyclical living modalities
  • Space for reflecting on the past year and making space for new beginnings

About Earth Rhythms

Earth Rhythms is here to turn us towards the natural world and practical, eco-centric ways of being through practices of embodiment, nature connection, the Celtic Wheel of the Year and the 8 Shields cultural healing map. A space to sink into the regenerating rhythms of nature as a way to connect more deeply with yourself, each other and the more than human world.

“A great space in which to move towards higher acceptance of the mind and body's cycles, and increase awareness of how they are integrated within the wider body of the Earth.” - Maz, previous participant

The Wheel of The Year

The Wheel of the Year is a map that was created through thousands of years of observation when humans shifted from primarily hunter gatherer lifestyles to agricultural. Through thousands of years of invasion and colonisation there is very little traditional ecological knowledge left available to those of us who reside on these islands. (The British Isles, Wales, Scotland and Ireland) and the Celtic (or pagan) Wheel of the Year contains a lot of the information, rituals, traditions and wisdom that would have existed on these islands.

The Wheel of the Year can offer us the space to connect with our ongoing cyclical journey but it can also support us becoming more fully ourselves as it encompasses the qualities we need to live in a culture of wholeness. We need more humans and human cultures to embody the qualities of wholeness and healing so that we can benefit the earth and its ecosystems through returning into a reciprocal relationship with the natural living world.

"I am taking so much insight and curiosity about the seasons away with me. I am also stepping into a new movement practice as a result of the course, feeling an eagerness to tap into the cyclical and innate wisdom of my body" - Anna

Your Facilitator

Alana Bloom is an artist, facilitator, ritualist and activist seeking to share in regenerative possibilities and practices for both our human and non-human collective liberation. Her mission is to steward eco-centric ways of being that are needed to seed life-sustaining futures through engaging in ancestral land skills, growing food, foraging, rewilding and other nature based practices that bring us into deeper connection with the natural world,

She weaves the wisdom of the more-than-human world into her work through nature connection, ritual, embodiment and cyclical wisdom and for years she has been leading transformational experiences for people to explore their creative gifts through community, connection and many practices inspired by her theatre & dance training.

Founder of Regenerating Rhythms, co-director of The Living Projects and Host Mentor with Enrol Yourself she has a variety of tools and approaches that support unlocking people’s potential, connecting with their intuition and creating powerful spaces of collaboration and learning.

Alana is a brilliant human with a gift for supporting people to create space in busy, confusing and unravelling times. - Dan Burgess, Founder wild labs
