It has long been a common misconception that psychedelics, like other drugs such as alcohol and cocaine, are addictive. In fact, we now know the opposite to be true - as Prof. David Nutt points out, “not only are psychedelics anti-addictive in themselves, but they may be useful in treating addiction to other drugs”. Alcoholics Anomynous founder, Bill Wilson, attributed his own recovery from depression to LSD back in the 1950s.

We welcome Danielle Negrin from the San Francisco Psychedelic Society to tell us about her personal journey overcoming addiction and the instrumental role that psychedelics played in her recovery. She will explore how we can use psychedelics as a catalyst to break free from addictive chains and lead us down a new path of personal development. Danielle’s experience developing a Psychedelic Recovery programme for her organisation has taken her far beyond the traditional “disease” management model, towards a more integrated, holistic approach to treatment. Her evidence-based peer support group empowers its members to leverage psychedelics for addiction recovery through both education and integration. Danielle will share with us her experience on how we might transform society’s approach to drug recovery away from prescription drug dependency through use of psychedelics, bringing new hope to those whose everyday struggle with addiction feels never-ending.
